Retinoises
A story of overcoming is the great cradle for the birth of the band Retinoises. Coming from the interior of the state of Sao Paulo, Brazil, the band arises from the desire of its founder, Rudolph Oliveira, to make music and tell through it a lot of what is the condition retinitis pigmentosa, a genetic, progressive and incurable disease of the retina that has already caused him to lose most of his vision. Retinitis affects thousands of people – it affects one in every six thousand people worldwide – and can lead to blindness.
Thus, since its foundation in 2017, Retnoises has already evoked in its baptism a creative combination of the name of the vocalist’s eye condition and the typical rock agitation (“retina + noises”).

Under the atmosphere of the 1990s and an interesting mix of the heavy sound of heavy metal and stoner, Rudolph sings creative lyrics that do not fail to go through moments of anguish, sometimes dark. Everything is packed under sources of inspiration from the most important of the rock pantheon such as Smashing Pumpkins, Queens of The Stone Age, My Bloody Valentine, Alice in Chains and Nirvana.
The strength of the Retinoises comes from its sound quality, melodies, choruses and striking riffs that manage to embrace with praise the orphans of 1990s alternative rock, but, without a doubt, their strength lies in much of Rudolph’s personal story that draws attention to one of the few eye diseases that still has no cure.
In discography, Retinoises has the following works: the EP Which Way EP (2018), the album Retinoises (2019), the single Gaslighting (2020), the single One More Life (2021), the EP Eyes For Sale (2021), the singles Suicide Prevention (2021), Feel Bad (Hit of Winter), De La Luna Road (2022), I Am (2022), Upside Down, In The Sky and Slowdive (2023). In July 2024, the album Peripheral Vision was released.
Retinoises recently performed live in some renowned venues in São Paulo, such as Rádio Kiss Fm (Kiss Club Program), one of the biggest radio stations in São Paulo, La Iglesia Borratxeria and Hocus Pocus Studio & Cafe – São José dos Campos.
